The wrong prayer!
Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘What will we wear?’ (For the Gentiles go after all these things.) For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
Matthew 6:31-32
Prayer is not a proof of your salvation. Jesus clearly spoke that even the gentiles pray sincerely. Prayers can also be inspired by worries over genuine absence of necessary elements of life. Luke 12:30 says clearly even worldly people are genuinely inspired to pray. God wants His people to be different from all others, a unique, trusting, happy people, who go after heavenly spiritual things.
Have you ever thought that Satan might tempt you to pray? Often when needs arise we receive an urge from within to pray. And one of the ways by which Satan tries to keep men in darkness is to keep them from praying right, by inciting men to pray wrong. Such praying can literally blind and bind men.
