To What End Is the Lord’s day for You?

*To What End Is the Lord’s day for You?*

> “Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you?” — Amos 5:18

Many people long for the Day of the Lord. You may pray for Christ’s return, for the triumph of righteousness, and for the end of evil. Yet God asks a sobering question: _“To what end is it for you?”_. Why do you desire that day? What do you expect it to bring to your life?

Israel eagerly anticipated the Day of the Lord, believing it would mean victory and vindication. But God declared that for them it would be “darkness, and not light.” They desired God’s intervention while ignoring His examination. They wanted judgment for others but not repentance for themselves.

The danger was not merely their sin—it was their false confidence. They assumed they were ready because they were religious. Yet outward worship could not hide inward disobedience. The Day of the Lord will not merely reveal God’s glory; it will reveal the true condition of your heart. On that day, reputation will not matter. Religious activity will not matter. What will matter is whether you truly walked with God.

For those who know and obey Him, that day will be light. But for those who merely presume upon His favor, it will be darkness. The wisest preparation for the Day of the Lord is not to speculate about its timing, but to ensure that if it came today, you would welcome it with joy.

Your brother in Christ,

Apostle Ashok Martin
