ASHOK MARTIN MINISTRIES

A ransom for many” — Love that pays the price

*“A ransom for many” — Love that pays the price*

> Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28

Jesus did not come for personal comfort, recognition, or earthly satisfaction. His entire mission was rooted in self-giving love. In Matthew 20:28, when He says He came _“to give His life a ransom for many,”_  it reveals that His life was a deliberate offering. A ransom is a price paid to set someone free, which means humanity was in bondage, and Christ willingly took our place to secure our release. His service was not symbolic—it was sacrificial and substitutionary.

Jesus gave Himself not only to forgive sin but to redeem us from all iniquity— _He desired to purify a people for Himself, a people set apart and belonging to Him._ (*Titus 2:14*) This shows that salvation is not merely about escape from judgment, but about transformation into a life that reflects Him, marked by zeal and devotion to good works.

_Though He was rich in divine glory and fellowship with the Father, He chose to become poor—not just materially, but by taking on human limitation and ultimately bearing the weight of sin and suffering._  *2 Corinthians 8:9* This “poverty” was the pathway through which we are made rich—not in earthly terms, but in righteousness, sonship, and spiritual inheritance. His loss became our gain.

Jesus did not live for Himself at any point. His satisfaction came from doing the Father’s will and giving Himself for others. The cross was not an accident in His journey but the very purpose for which He came. This kind of love goes beyond emotion or temporary comfort. It is a love that gives, sacrifices, and transforms. *Christ did not come merely to improve human life; He came to offer an entirely new life—one that flows from Him.*
