*A life of Submission*
> “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” — Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)
*Read : Jeremiah 6 & 7*
In Jeremiah’s day, the people claimed covenant but rejected obedience. “Stand in the ways and see… ask for the ancient paths… but they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” (Jer. 6:16) They cried, “The temple of the Lord!” (Jer. 7:4) Yet their hearts were far from Him. Religion without surrender. Security without repentance. Peace proclaimed where judgment stood at the door.
Christ emptied Himself in obedience. Judah filled themselves with presumption. Christ humbled Himself unto death. They refused to humble themselves unto repentance. Christ did not need to descend — but He did. They needed to return — but they would not.
Jeremiah wept over a stubborn people. Christ wept over Jerusalem.
The cross is the ancient path. The Name above every name is the only refuge. If we honor the Temple but reject the Lord of the Temple, we repeat Jeremiah 7. If we preach peace without repentance, we echo Jeremiah 6:14 — “They have healed the hurt of My people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.”
He did not empty Himself for Himself. He emptied Himself for us. Therefore walk in the ancient path. Bow to the exalted Name. Embrace the obedience He embraced for you. Because the One who needed nothing gave everything.
Your brother in Christ,
Apostle Ashok Martin
