*We Are Not Ordinary People*
> “For the LORD has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His special treasure.” — Psalm 135:4
We often think that we are ordinary people. But the verse above says that you are God’s own special treasure, and that God has chosen Jacob for Himself.
No one considers their personal treasure to be ordinary. They protect it. They guard it from being stolen. They take care of it and pay attention to it. In this world, people consider certain possessions their personal treasures, but God considers you and me His own special treasure.
This thought is extremely precious because if you are His special treasure, then your protection, your care, and your preservation are God’s responsibility. You are under God’s responsibility because you belong to Him. You are His special treasure.
Look at what people are willing to do to protect their own wealth. And even to make someone else’s wealth their own, people will go to great lengths. But you did not belong to someone else, nor did you belong to yourself—you belonged to God. Therefore, to save His own treasure, that is, to save you, He gave His own Son.
> “Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” — Titus 2:14
Therefore, you are not just another person among people; you are a people set apart from the rest. You cannot go anywhere and settle anywhere. You cannot partake in everything around you. You cannot become comfortable and entangled everywhere, because you are God’s special treasure.
You have been redeemed from lawlessness, purified, and made into a special people who are zealous for good works.
So remember who you are. You are not ordinary. You belong to God. You are His special treasure.
