“I wish I too had a home…”

*“I wish I too had a home…”*

> “For we know that if our earthly tent is destroyed, we have a building from God—an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.” — 2 Corinthians 5:1

How true is this sigh that rises from the depths of the heart: _“I wish I too had a home…”_ A home is not merely walls and a roof; it is a place of rest… a place where you are not examined, but received… where you are not a traveler, but truly belong. A true home is not where you must constantly prove yourself, nor where you are welcomed today and forgotten tomorrow. A home is where your presence is not questioned, your staying is not a burden, and your absence is deeply felt.

Yet, if we truly listen to our hearts, many of us walk through this world carrying a quiet sense of homelessness within. But the Word reveals a deeper truth: _“For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling.” — 2 Corinthians 5:2_ This groaning… this restlessness… this incompleteness— is not weakness. It is a divine signal. It tells us that this world is not our final home.

We live in a perishable tent— temporary, fragile, and fading. No matter how much we try to settle here, a voice within keeps whispering: _“This is not the place… there is something more…”_ And indeed—there is.

God has placed a longing for eternity within our hearts, and nothing temporary can ever satisfy it. You were not created to feel completely at home in this world. That sense of unfamiliarity you feel… that feeling of not fully belonging anywhere… is actually calling you toward your true home. _“For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” — Hebrews 13:14_

There is a home— not built by human hands, unshaken by time, where there is no rejection, loss, or change. There: you will be fully known, and yet fully loved. You will not be a guest, but a child. You will not be passing through, but dwelling forever.

And through Christ, that home has already begun to dwell within you. _“I will dwell in them and walk among them; I will be their God, and they will be My people.” — 2 Corinthians 6:16_

So when your heart says:

_“I wish I too had a home…”_

Let your spirit answer:

_“I do have a home… and I am on my way to it.”_

Hallelujah 🙌

Apostle Ashok Martin
