“Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.” — Psalm 32:1
Real happiness is not found in possessions or success, but in forgiveness. David confessed that when he hid his sin, “my bones wasted away… my strength was sapped” (Psalm 32:3–4). Guilt crushed him, but when he turned to God, forgiveness restored his joy.
Forgiveness lifts the heaviest burden a person can carry—the burden of sin. That’s why David prayed, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation” (Psalm 51:12). Happiness flows from a clean heart and peace with God.
Through Christ, this promise is ours: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us” (1 John 1:9). The forgiven soul is the free soul—and the free soul is the happy soul.
