Draw near to God!
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
(James 4:8)
When you draw near to God, He promises to draw near to you. This act of drawing closer to Him conveys a sense of urgency to be near Him, to experience a sense of intimacy with Him. As an act of your will, you make a deliberate decision to move closer to Him in the Spirit.
This step has nothing to do with feelings. God is worthy of all of our praise, no matter how we feel or what we are going through. Every person must choose for himself how closely he will follow Jesus and how intimate his walk with Him will be. God is completely accessible to every person who is willing to surrender to Him. You could pray today: “Precious heavenly Father, I long for intimacy with You. I want to know You more deeply and intimately, and to be continually transformed into Your image. I long to see Your face and to hear Your voice; I long to know the mysteries and secrets that can be learned only in Your presence. Draw me close to You, Lord. Amen.”
