The Power of Desire and Commitment
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” — Matthew 5:6
Desire is the spark that ignites divine pursuit. The widow in Jesus’ parable (Luke 18:1–8) desired justice so deeply that she refused to rest until her cause was heard. Her persistence moved even an unjust judge. If such endurance could prevail in the earthly realm, how much more will the cry of those who seek God move the throne of Heaven!
Desire without commitment is a fleeting emotion; but when desire is coupled with discipline, it becomes a spiritual force. Those who truly long for God will prove it not in words, but in *action* — in fasting, in prayer, and in continual meditation on the Word.
Paul wrote, *“Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things”* (1 Corinthians 9:25). Spiritual growth demands the same — not casual interest, but consistent pursuit. The one who *hungers for the Spirit* must also *labour in the Spirit*.
> “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” — Matthew 7:7
Your desire defines your devotion, and your devotion determines your transformation. So rise with holy hunger — pray until your spirit burns, fast until your flesh bows, and meditate until your mind is renewed. Then, like the widow, you will find that *heaven’s door opens to those who refuse to stop knocking.*
