“Break Up Your Fallow Ground”
> Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12 ESV
“Sow for yourselves according to righteousness.” — Righteousness is not only believed — it is planted. Every act of obedience, every prayer, every repentance tills the soil for a supernatural crop. _Galatians 6:8: “He who sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting_.”
And even when we sow in righteousness, God lets the harvest exceed our seed — not by our perfection, but by His compassion. _Psalm 103:10: “He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities_.” The mercy of God is the rain that multiplies what you plant in faith.
“Break up your fallow ground” means to confront the hardened areas of the heart — habits, pride, disappointments, or spiritual dryness that resist growth. God cannot plant new seed in unbroken soil. Revival begins where repentance plows deep. _Jeremiah 4:3: “Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns._”
This is not casual seeking; it’s urgent pursuit. When the Spirit stirs your heart to pray, that is your “appointed time.” Delay dulls the harvest. _Isaiah 55:6: “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near_.”
The rain does not fall instantly — it comes after endurance. Persistence in prayer turns seasons of drought into showers of righteousness. Stay at the altar till He comes. _James 5:7: “The husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain_.” This rain is both revival and renewal — an outpouring that softens hearts, restores nations, and reveals the righteousness of Christ as the true harvest. Joel 2:23: _“He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain in the first month_.”
