Can I bind/loose ANYTHING ??
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:19 AMPC
In Jewish rabbinic language of Jesus’ time, “To bind” (Greek: deō, Hebrew: asar) meant to forbid something or declare it not permitted according to divine law. “To loose” (Greek: luō, Hebrew: hitir) meant to permit something or declare it allowed by divine authority.
When Jesus said, _“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven…”_ He was referring to spiritual authority—the right to represent heaven’s rule on earth. What you “bind” or “loose” on earth should align with what heaven has already decided. This doesn’t mean humans can command heaven—it means heaven is entrusting authority to believers to enforce God’s will on earth (Matthew 6:10).
To bind is to restrain or forbid demonic activity, deception, or sin from operating. To loose is to release God’s purposes, healing, peace, and deliverance into a situation. It’s declaring: “Let what is in heaven—come to earth; let what is not of heaven—be stopped.”
Notice: Jesus says “whatever you bind…must be what is already bound in heaven.”
So, the secret is alignment — not personal willpower but agreeing with heaven’s will.
That’s why the Holy Spirit is essential — He reveals heaven’s mind so that what we bind/loose reflects divine order, not human opinion. Hallelujah 🙌
