*The Peace of Right Expectations*
My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. Psalms 62:5
David declared, *“My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him”* (Psalm 62:5). True safety lies in directing our hope upward, not outward. Leaders are human. They can fail, stumble, or grow weary. Paul and Barnabas cried, *“We also are men with the same nature as you”* (Acts 14:15). When we forget this, deception often follows.
Many wounds in the body of Christ come from misplaced expectation. The Bible warns, *“Cursed is the man who trusts in man”* (Jeremiah 17:5). When we expect too much from people, we set ourselves up for disappointment.
Paul reminded the church, *“Neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who makes things grow”* (1 Corinthians 3:7). People may plant. Others may water. But only God gives increase. Unchecked expectation breeds heartbreak, but balanced faith keeps us rooted in truth.
The Bible exhorts, *“Trust in the Lord with all your heart”* (Proverbs 3:5). Lean not on men. Lean on Him. When expectations align with God’s will, peace follows. *“The peace of God will guard your hearts”* (Philippians 4:7). Hope in man fails, but hope in God never fails.
