Eternal Eyes: Living Beyond the Moment
“If the rulers of this age had understood, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8)
There is a blindness of those who walk in the wisdom of the flesh. They do not perceive the eternal weight of their actions. They only see the temporal, and so they crucified the very One who was their salvation. Their blindness to the eternal weight of their actions led them to destroy the very One who came to save them. This is the tragedy of ignorance—when men act without seeing the end of their deeds.
A son of God, however, does not walk blindly. Led by the Spirit, he discerns the outcome of his choices. He knows that anger, offense, and bitterness only reap destruction, while forgiveness, patience, and love carry eternal reward. This is the mark of maturity—seeing beyond the moment into eternity.
Jesus Himself is the perfect example. He endured the cross because His eyes were fixed on the joy set before Him. The shame, the pain, and the rejection could not shake Him, because He knew what it would accomplish the task. Likewise, when we see with spiritual eyes, burdens become lighter, forgiveness becomes easier, and endurance becomes possible.
Every action carries a result. Every seed sown has a harvest. To live with this awareness is to walk as a true son of God—free from the blindness of the flesh and filled with the wisdom of eternity.
