Guard Your Heart!
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts. Psalm 139:23
It only takes a few minutes of unguarded living to destroy your life. Consequently, your greatest asset in ministry is your heart, which is why Scripture exhorts us to guard it with vigilance: Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.(Proverbs 4:23) Some other translation puts it this way: Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flows the springs of life. You must guard your heart because it’s constantly under attack.
Your mind is regularly assaulted to entertain ungodly thoughts, toxic thinking patterns, and foolish temptations. Your emotions will tempt you to allow bitterness, resentment, anger, and depression to take root. An unhealthy heart threatens everything else in your life—not only your ministry but your family, friends, work, and health. So, guard your heart with all diligence.
Your brother in Christ,
