*“El-Roi” God who sees us!*

`She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me. Genesis 16:13`
“El-Roi” means God sees. And yes it is true! The word ‘El-Roi’ was used for God by Hagar in the Old Testament. When Hagar was tormented by Sarai, she withdrew from her. Hagar was in the wilderness by the spring of water by the way of Shur, when an angel of God saw her. Hagar was alone and despondent in the forest. When Hagar met God’s messenger, she felt that God was watching her. He felt that ‘El-Roi’ saw her in her suffering and testified that He is the living God, who sees everyone.
Let us understand this deeply. Scripture says in Job 1:8, *Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”* When angels and Satan appear before God, God speaks of Job’s honesty and innocent life. In John 1:48 says *“How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”* Let’s look at another evidence, in ‘Acts 18:10’ the Lord says to Paul, *”I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”* God speaks to Paul that in this city I has seen the faith of the people in me. God sees all.
God sees our situations. We remember God only in our pain, but God sees all these things, our pain, trouble, illness, our mistakes, our behaviour, our habits, our joy, and God loves us so much that when we go through such pain, when parents or friends or relatives are with us, God’s wonderful presence is with us because He sees us. And if we look at Him, He has the power to change our every situation. The promise says,_ *“The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them.Psalm 11:4”*
