*Fasting: The Law of Spiritual Favour*
> `“Is not this the fast that I have chosen… then shall thy light break forth as the morning… Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer…”Isaiah 58:6–9`
Favour in Scripture is not a reward for religious performance; it is the response of God to a heart aligned with His own. In Isaiah 58, Israel fasted outwardly but remained unchanged inwardly. They humbled their bodies but not their pride. God rejected their ritual because true fasting is not starvation of the stomach — it is surrender of the will.
The fast God chooses loosens injustice, breaks oppression, feeds the hungry, and restores dignity to the afflicted. When mercy flows outward, favour flows downward. Light breaks forth. Healing springs up. Prayer receives immediate audience. Spiritual favour is Heaven’s affirmation resting upon a life that reflects God’s character.
Fasting without repentance is hypocrisy. But fasting with humility becomes a channel of grace. It does not bend God’s arm; it bends our heart. And a bent heart attracts divine nearness.
Fasting declares, “God is more satisfying than bread.” When earthly appetites are quieted, spiritual hunger intensifies. In that holy hunger, revelation sharpens, sensitivity increases, and communion deepens.
*The law of spiritual favour is simple yet profound: when the heart mirrors Heaven, Heaven responds.* Fasting that produces justice, compassion, and surrender releases light, clarity, protection, and answered prayer. We do not fast to earn acceptance — Christ secured that at the cross. We fast to experience the fullness of the favour already given.
